Bud's is the best doughnut shop for many, many miles. Forget your chains like Krispy Kreme and other one-off doughnut shops in larger metro areas like Joplin and Springfield. Bud's has all the best doughnuts: yeast, old-fashioned, cake, frosted, longjohns, twists. Every glaze is hand dipped. Every doughnut is hand made and fried to perfection. You have to get them early, though. Bud's opens around 5:30am and he's rarely there past 9:00am. That is a solid testament to how good and how popular these local pastries are. If you're new, try the plain old-fashioned or the maple glazed yeast doughnut. Once you do, you'll be back to try the rest.
